Spreadsheets and sticky notes don't scale when you have multiple clients, different rates, and work in flight.
One list for everything
Workey Projects keeps freelance project management in one place—hourly or monthly billing, client name, status, and rates tied to the work you actually do.
Status at a glance
Create a project per client or deliverable, filter and search as your list grows, and see what's active, on hold, or completed.
The backbone of Workey
The Timer, Timesheet, Invoices, and Revenue all read from the projects you create—nothing gets lost between tools.
How to add a new project
From the Projects page in the dashboard, click New project to open the add-project dialog. You can create a project in two ways: using the form or by pasting JSON.
Form fields: Enter a name and client, choose hourly or monthly billing, then set the rate (hourly) or monthly salary and optional payday (1–31) for monthly projects. You can add an optional description and VAT rate. Save to create the project.
Add via JSON: Switch to the JSON tab in the same dialog and paste a single project object with name, client, type ("hourly" or "monthly"), and rate or monthly_salary. Optional fields include description, payday, and vat_rate.
View of each project
Click a project from the list to open its detail view. You’ll see the project name, client, rate, status, and linked time entries. From there you can log time, update status, or mark the project as completed.
Hourly vs monthly billing for retainers
Not every client bills the same way. Mixed billing types live in one freelance project list.
Hourly
Time-and-materials work: set an hourly rate and every logged hour bills at it. Best for scoped or variable engagements.
Monthly
Retainers: set a monthly salary and an optional payday (1–31). Best for ongoing clients with predictable scope.
Projects connect time tracking and invoicing
Every project links to the Timer, Timesheet, and Invoices. Log hours on a project, generate an invoice from those entries, and see revenue roll up on your Dashboard.
